This
simple and easy recipe can be made in minutes with ingredients that any Indian
kitchen will have. Try it with steamed rice and let me know.
My favorite way of having it is by dunking stale chapati pieces and just a touch of ghee.
2 tbsp besan
½ tsp of chopped ginger
1 green chili chopped into 3-4 pieces
7-8 curry levaes washed and torn into half
½ tsp sugar
1 tbsp ghee
½ tsp cumin seeds
8-10 fenugreek seeds (मेथी दाणे)
Pinch of hing
½ tsp turmeric powder (optional)
Salt to taste
2. Add 2 cups of water and mix it well.
3. Now add green chili pieces, curry leaves and chopped ginger. Add salt and sugar and mix again.
4. Transfer the mixture to a heavy bottom vessel and cook on a low heat for 8-10 minutes stirring in between.
5. The mixture will rise as it cooks. Stir well every couple of minutes to make sure it does not boil over.
6. Now remove the vessel from heat. Keep another small vessel (tadka pot) on heat and add ghee.
7. Once the ghee is hot, add cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds and hing.
8. Add this tadka to the prepared kadhi and mix well.
9. Serve hot with rice.
