Idli/Dosa Chatni

Enjoy is this simple and tasty chatni with hot home made dosa/idli made from the dosa batter in my earlier post.
Ingredients
1 cup fresh grated coconut (खवलेले खोबरे)
1 small onion chopped
1 green chili cut into 2-3 pieces (adjust as per taste)
½ tsp jeera
½ cup curd
1 tbsp urad daal soaked for 15-20 minutes
1 tbsp fresh coriander washed (optional)
Salt to taste

For Tadka –
1 tsp oil
1 dry red chili cut into 2 pieces
3-4 curry leaves
½ tsp mustard seeds
Pinch of hing

Method:
1.  Blend grated coconut, onion, green chili, jeera, curd, urad daal, coriander and salt in mixer to coarse (don’t make it like smooth masala paste, it should have some texture) consistency.
2.  Transfer to a bowl.
3.  Heat oil in the tadka pan. Add mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds crackle, add hing, curry leaves and red chili.
4.  Pour this tadka over the chatni and mix well.
5.  Serve with idli or dosa.
