Gulwani (गुळवणी) - with my twist

Ingredients:
3/4 cup besan
2 tbsp chopped onion
2 tsp chopped corriandar
4 tbsp + 2 tbsp thick tamarind pulp
chilli powder, cumin powder as per taste
Turmeric powder, Hing
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
2 tspa + 1/2 tsp jaggery
1 tbsp oil
salt to taste

Method:
1. In a bowl mix besan, onion, corriandar, 2 tbsp tamarind pulp, chilli powder, cumin powder, 1/2 tsp jaggery and salt to taste
2. Add enough water to make a dropping consistency batter.



3. In a kadai, heat oil. Once it is hot, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and let them crackle.
4. Now add turmeric powder and hing and 4 cups of water
5. Let it come to a boil, then add chilli pwder, 4 tbsp of tamarind pulp, 2 tsp of jaggery and salt to taste.
6. Let this boil for a couple of mins
7. Now add the besan mixture in the form of small dumplings not too close together. Reserve last 1 tbsp of the batter.
8. Now stir gently to make sure the dumplings are not sticking to the bottom. Let them cook for a couple of mins.
9. Now add 3-4 tbsp water to the remaining batter and stir it in. (my twist to original recipe)
10. Let this cook for 4-5 mins
11. Serve hot with rice or roti
